Biography

Background

Although an American citizen, I was born and brought up in Germany. I traveled a good amount around Europe with my parents during that time, visiting European relatives and becoming intimately familiar with certain favorite cities such as Paris and Florence. This included many repeated visits to museums and historical sites, as well as appreciating local cuisines, music and cultural events.

I've traveled extensively in the United States as well, and have lived in a few of the major metropolitan areas such as Boston and San Francisco. Through this mobility, the exposure to different cultures and climates coupled with my inherited adventurous spirit, I have been thrilled to observe and study a multitude of different art and architectural styles from varying periods of time. I believe that my background gives me a unique and wide perspective to bring to the profession of interior design, a profession I discovered over time, experimentation and research.

Philosophy

I returned to school to study interior design following a series of related experiences- office management work, classes in web design, graphic design, desktop publishing and animation, and ultimately a job involving construction administration at an architectural firm. I can therefore offer an interdisciplinary, open-minded, but focused approach to any project I take on, and study each challenge from various angles to come up with the best solution possible.

As you will see if you continue to research my services, I believe that everyone deserves a well-designed, functionally efficient, environmentally healthy, and aesthetically pleasing place in which to live and work. So much of one's success and happiness in life depends on one's physical and psychological comfort on a daily basis, and to feel deprived in that way can detract so much from one's goals in life that I believe design of the built environment is one of the most rewarding careers a person can have.
