Welcome!
You have found the website of Elena L. Rivellino, a San Diego-based Interior Designer. Whether you are planning to do some major remodeling, or simply need some help furnishing or accessorizing your home or business, I can help you along in the process. I offer a full range of design services to local residential and small commercial markets, as well as contract employment for design firms in the area. Whether you own a small condo or a spacious loft in the city, a townhome in the suburbs, or a large custom-built home in the hills, I can help you make the most of your space and customize it to suit your needs, your aesthetic, and your budget.
What is a "design gem"?
Let me first tell you what I think interior design is. It is the arrangement of any interior into a successfully functional and aesthetically appropriate space based on the client's criteria. This means that the end users of a space drive all of the design intent- a designer should mold the space to your liking. In keeping with that theory, I believe that every project is entitled to that distinguishing mark that makes it unique. One custom element that truly embodies the user's purpose in the space, or the arrangement of elements in such a way that reveals the client's perspective on life. People hire designers for various practical reasons, but ultimately the reason is to make the space their own. I strive to help people accomplish that goal and add the special touch that allows them to identify with their interior.
Do I Need an Interior Designer?
If you are in any of the following situations, you may want to hire an interior designer:
- You are remodeling or adding on to your home
- You bought a new place and it needs some refinishing before move-in
- You are redecorating and need help finding interesting accents
- You are having trouble arranging furniture in a way that works and looks good
- You are selling your home and could use advice on how to stage it
- You need help organizing and making the most out of your space
How do we start?
Give me a call. I'll ask you to briefly describe your project, and if I determine it's something I can help you with, we can set up an initial consultation in person. If I find that your project is too large of a scale for me to handle, or its timeline does not fit into my schedule, I will try to refer you to another designer or design firm. If you decide to hire me, I will ask you to sign a design contract based on our agreed upon fees and an outline of the services included in that fee.
Contract Work
I am available for short-term or temporary contract work, catering to the often sporadic ebb and flow of a project-dependant design industry. If you are a residential or commercial firm in need of some supplementary design services to meet your next deadline, please call me to discuss your needs. My resume, with detailed descriptions of my past work experiences, and a selection of original conceptual design work can be viewed within the Bio and Portfolio sections of this site.
